Headlines from the Newspaper
Cut out headlines from newspapers and have the students write articles to suit the headlines. You could choose just one and see how many different articles you get from the students, or you can cut out enough so that each student receives a different one.
After this you can have them read the original article that was written under that headline.

I am a journalism graduate and I know how hard it is to get the chance for your story to be the headliner of the newspaper. It's hard, especially if your seniors are too great that you cannot even compete with their writing skills. What I did before was I asked several advice from my senior and told her to trust me. After months of asking that from her, she gave me the chance to cover a Christmas event and I got my first ever byline! it was hard, but definitely satisfying!
